Sandi, who is originally from Wyoming, started showing and training dogs when she was 14. When she moved to California in 1986, she worked at a kennel in Petaluma, where she learned the art of dog grooming. Since then, she has worked at other kennels in Sonoma County and has completed the PCSA (Pet Care Services Association) Certified Pet Care Technician Program. Sandi opened her own grooming shop in 1994 in the town of Windsor with the help of her husband and family. It has always been a life-long dream of hers to own her own kennel. She was lucky enough to marry a great man (Jim) who also shares her love of animals.
Jim is from California and has lived in Windsor since 1972. He has always had a unique bond with animals. He had several dogs and cats during his youth and even a couple of chickens who would ride with him on his paper route. Jim has been very involved in the pet care industry alongside Sandi since he started helping her with dog grooming in 1994.
Sandi and Jim opened Starr Pet Resort (previously Tukahoe Kennels) in June of 2004. They have spent many hours modernizing and improving the existing facility and continue to make improvements to this day.
They strive to make this a happy and fun pet care facility for all of their furry friends.
You are always welcome to come and view our facility anytime during our normal business hours (except 4 days prior to or after a major holiday). However, we ask that you please leave your furry friend(s) at home or in the car.
